San Diego, CA January 13, 2015 – Ability Center announced the acquisition of MPJ Mobility in Oregon.  Ability Center is a mobility equipment dealer that sells, installs and services mobility equipment including wheelchair accessible vans, home stair lifts, driving aids and wheelchair lifts.  The deal will allow Ability Center to expand its services into Eugene and Portland, OR.

“This latest addition of the two Oregon stores allows us at Ability Center to help more people in the disabled community with an expanded set of offerings,” said Darrell Heath, Ability Center’s CEO.  “Not only will we be selling and servicing wheelchair accessible vans in OR, but we will also be renting them which is a great benefits to many families who travel or don’t have a need for accessible transportation full-time,” said Heath.

Ability Center is QAP Certified in their two new locations.  QAP or Quality Assurance Program is the only nationally recognized accreditation program for the adaptive mobility equipment, wheelchair accessible vehicle, and wheelchair lift industry.  It is based on the guiding principle that quality is the ultimate key to operating a successful business. “Being QAP Certified is an added level of security for customers as they know they will be receiving the best possible service,” said Chad Blake, Ability Center’s COO.

MPJ Mobility had been owned and operated by David Jennings and his son-in-law since 2000.  Together they have more than 38 years of experience in the mobility industry and both will remain on board with Ability Center.  “It was important to me as a member of the community that we remain true to our roots and outstanding customer service which is why I am excited about this new chapter with Ability Center,” said David Jennings.  “I have known Darrell and Chad for years and respect what they have done in their 40+ years in the mobility industry and have no doubt that Ability Center will make a positive impact on the Oregon community.”
