San Diego, CA April 1, 2013 – Ability Center, the Southwest’s preferred provider of wheelchair vans, handicap accessible vehicles and mobility products, is celebrating its 19th year in business this month.

Ability Center started as a small company founded by Darrell Heath and a few staff members in 1994 and has since grown to serve more than 10,000 individuals annually with personalized service and accessible products. In 1978, Heath worked to convert vans for adaptive uses at the infancy of the mobility movement.  Sixteen years later, his first Ability Center store in San Diego, California opened.

Since it’s humble beginnings, Ability Center has expanded to include seven stores in three states in the Southwest United States. Ability Center has continued that growth by opening several stores in the past few years, most recently a Long Beach location which opened in late March. Another store is expected to open in Riverside, California by mid-2013.

The growth of Ability Center displays the company’s vision to be recognized as the country’s preferred provider of mobility equipment products and service for the physically challenged. Throughout its 19 years of exceptional customer service and top quality selection of mobility equipment, Ability Center has continued to live up to that goal, as well as to its motto of elevating the quality of life for its many clients across the United States.
